free html editor wysiwyg
What is the best HTML editor?

I used Frontpage first, but then switched to Nvu and liked it a lot, but noticed it give me too much script in the end. I went back to Frontpage but then noticed it focuses on IE and other web browsers (especially Opera).

Someone told me I should use default HTML (make the code myself), but i cant do that. Can you name some other good ones?
Free are a plus. WYSIWYG is a must.

if you already know HTML there are some friendly editors out there. For PC HomeSite 5.5 is by far the best. Too bad Adobe/Macromedia have left it to die. A solid replacement for HomeSite is Aptana. It is free, and still in development. Give it a try, it gets better every day. And it works on a Mac and Linux also.

If you do not know HTML and are looking for a program to guide you some. I reluctantly recomend Dreamweaver. It can be spendy, however it has many many features that all will help you make a good looking site. However, there is a steap learning curve to get it to work right.
If you do plan on building many sites in the future, get a job doing this, or just have some great foundations into harder things like scripting etc for you website, I strongly recomend learning HTML and how it works. You don’t need to memorize all of the elements (a good editor will do that for you). Just know how to build tables, add links and images, modify text. After that, jump into CSS, and finally learn some DHTML with Javascript and CSS. Then go get a job! :)
